Footsteps of the Holy Family Tour

“Arise, take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt”, -St. Matt. 2:13. Typically, Israel is considered the land of Jesus. But Jesus and His parents had also a secure refuge in Egypt. And Egypt played a greater role than any other country in the shaping of Christian doctrine during the first four centuries. Clement and Origin had major teaching roles in the 2nd century, Athanasius gave the 1st list of the 27 books for the New Testament, and they were all Egyptians. Cairo’s Cathedral now enshrines the remains of the body of St. Mark.
