Prague to Vienna 11 Nights

Day 1: Prague

Arrive Prague. Have an introduction to the majestic city with a half-day tour. Visit Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world dating back to the 9th century. See the Bohemian Crown Jewels, housed in the castle. See the Old Town Square featuring an astronomical clock, and Charles Bridge, where you will see a variety of craft vendors.

Day 2: Prague – Plzen – Cesky Krumlov – Prague

Today take an excursion to Plzen. Have a tour of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and a tour of the 13th century tunnels that run under Plzen. Continue to Cesky Krumlov to visit Cesky Krumlov Castle and have some time to walk around this UNESCO World Heritage City.

Day 3: Prague – Straz Nezarkou – Brno

Transfer to Brno via Straz Nad Nezarkou. Visit Chateau Straz Nad Nezarkou. This guard castle was

established in the 12th century in the crossing point of the Nežárka River. In the 17th century it was reconstructed into a chateau. Continue to Brno for a 1-night stay.

Day 4: Brno – Bratislava

Today have a half-day Brno city tour. Visit the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Hike to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the city. Tour Spilberk Castle, an imposing 13th-century castle which first served as a fortress and then as a prison for common criminals and opponents of the Hapsburg monarchy. Continue to Bratislava.

Day 5: Bratislava

Today enjoy a full-day of sightseeing. Visit Bratislava Castle, a castle hill site that dates back to the stone age. Tour the Old Town, the historic neighborhood filled with charming narrow lanes, burgher’s houses and nobles’ palaces in addition to many of the city’s important buildings such as the former Palace of the Hungarian Estates, the late-Gothic building of the Academia Istropolitana and the Leopold de Pauli Palace.

Day 6: Bratislava – Esztergom – Budapest

Transfer to Budapest, en route visit Esztergom. Tour the Esztergom Basilica. Built in the first half of the nineteenth century, this is the largest cathedral in Hungary and incorporates the red marble Rakocz Chapel, a fine example of Renaissance art. Continue to Budapest for a 2-night stay. Have some time to enjoy the mineral bath spas located around the city.

Day 7: Budapest

Enjoy a Budapest city tour today. Tour the Opera House, Magyar Allami Operahaz. This magnificent new-Renaissance style structure, completed in 1884 and modeled after the Vienna Opera House, is home to both the State Opera and the State Ballet. See Fisherman’s Bastion Built during the 19th century for the Hungarian Millennium celebrations, this mock bastion features pointed towers and turrets, reminiscent of the fairytale castles in Disney World.

Day 8: Budapest – Zabreb

Travel to Croatia to Zagreb and enjoy some sightseeing. Visit Zagreb Cathedral, the most famous building in Zagreb and the tallest in Croatia. Tour the Mirogoj Cemetery, one of the most beautiful in Europe. Have time on your own to explore the lower town and the Dolac Market.

Day 9: Zagreb – Ljubjana

Transfer to Slovenia to the city of Ljubljana. Have a city tour to include a visit to Ljubljana Castle. Climb to the tower for views of the city. Walk the Dragons Bridge and through the Metelkova, an artistic post most modern neighborhood.

Day 10: Ljubjana – Vienna

Travel to Vienna and spend the afternoon at leisure. Visit Naschmarkt where you will find a variety of vendors selling traditional Viennese foods. Perhaps take a cruise on the Danube.

Day 11: Vienna

Today enjoy a full day of sightseeing, including visit to Schoenbrunn Palace, the State Opera House, and City Hall. Tonight enjoy dinner at a traditional Heurigen Restaurant.

Day 12: Vienna

Transfer to the airport and depart.
